Harris leaned over the glass table.
His face tightened as he took the phone from my hand.
“Who sent this to you, Anne?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” I said. “It’s an unknown number.”
He tapped the screen, zooming in on the dark SUV.
“That’s not one of our unmarked units,” Harris said.
He immediately pulled out his own radio, pressing the button on the side.
“Dispatch, this is Harris,” he said. “What is the ETA on the Riverside units for the Palm Springs address?”
Static hissed through his speaker.
“Units are two minutes out, Detective,” a woman’s voice replied. “They had a traffic delay on the state route.”
“Tell them to approach with caution,” Harris said. “We have eyes on the scene. There is an unidentified black SUV in the driveway and the front door is open.”
“Acknowledged, Harris. Advising units now.”
Chloe stood up from her chair, her hands pressed against her cheeks.
“Is Lucas in danger?” she asked, her eyes wide with fear. “Who is in that car?”
“We don’t know yet, Chloe,” I said, trying to keep my voice flat.
