Daniel walked over to the metal box on the wall, his flashlight beam shaking.
“He’s right, Adrian,” Daniel said.
“The keypad is locked out.”
“It’s asking for a physical authorization,” Daniel said.
“A biometric keycard.”
I looked at Caleb.
“Where is it?” I asked.
“It’s not on me,” Caleb said.
“Marcus searched me.”
“He knows I don’t have it.”
Marcus nodded slowly.
“He’s clean, Adrian,” Marcus said.
“Nothing in his pockets but a pocketknife and a lighter.”
“Then where is the card?” I demanded.
Caleb smiled, a slow, ugly movement of his lips.
“It’s somewhere on the property,” Caleb said.
