Graham’s mouth opened, but no words came out.
He looked at Vance, then at me, his eyes darting back and forth.
“That’s impossible,” Graham whispered. “Vanguard is a multi-million dollar corporation. Jocelyn, tell them this is a mistake.”
“It is no mistake, Graham,” I said.
I opened my briefcase and pulled out a blue manila folder.
I slid it across the table toward Richard Sterling.
“Inside you will find the original incorporation papers,” I said. “And the banking authorizations.”
Sterling put on his reading glasses and opened the folder.
The other two creditors leaned in close, scanning the documents.
“These are fully executed,” Sterling said, his voice dropping. “You’ve held these assets since before you were married.”
“Yes,” I said. “I inherited the initial portfolio from my grandfather, and I have managed it privately ever since.”
