“With the firm’s final reserve capital?” Elliot asked. “Into your mistress’s shell company?”

“It wasn’t like that,” Graham said.

“The documents show a permanent wire,” I said. “No return clause. No interest rate. No corporate ledger entry.”

I looked at Elliot.

“The moment that wire cleared tomorrow, Graham was scheduled to board a flight to Miami,” I said. “And then to Nassau.”

Elliot read from the next sheet of paper in the folder.

“The reservation was made under a false name,” Elliot said.

“Yes,” I said. “He used his mother’s maiden name for the ticket.”

“I have the itinerary right here.”

I pulled a single sheet of paper from my bag and laid it on top of the folder.

It was a first-class reservation on American Airlines.

One ticket for Graham.

None for Bianca.

Bianca looked at the paper, then at Graham.

“One ticket?” she asked, her voice dangerously quiet.

Graham closed his eyes.

“Bianca, I was going to set things up first,” Graham said. “I was going to wire the funds to our joint portal once I arrived.”
