The Silent Partner Who Brought Down a Highland Park Empire
“What else is there?” Elliot asked.
I held the paper just out of Graham’s reach.
He reached for it, but I pulled it back.
“Arden, stop,” Graham said.
“I think Elliot deserves to see where the rest of the money was headed,” I said.
I laid the paper on the table, face up.
It was a wire transfer authorization form, dated three days ago.
The receiving bank was located in Zurich, Switzerland.
The beneficiary name on the account was not Graham.
“Who is this?” Elliot asked, squinting at the name.
“It is an offshore account,” I said.
“In whose name?” Elliot asked.
I looked directly at Graham.
His eyes were wide, pleading with me to stop.
“It belongs to Bianca,” I said.
The name hung in the air of the boardroom.
“And how much was scheduled to be transferred tomorrow morning?” Elliot asked.
“Two and a half million,” I said.
“That is the remainder of our reserve capital,” Elliot said, his voice barely audible.
“Yes,” I said. “He was going to leave you with the empty shell of a firm.”
