“She wants to take everything in the divorce,” Graham said, his words coming faster now. “The house, the accounts, my reputation.”

He took a deep breath, trying to smooth down his jacket.

“She is using these fake documents to blackmail me into giving her the trust fund,” Graham said.

He looked down at the black USB drive sitting between us on the table.

“It is a classic shake-down,” Graham said. “Any court in Texas will see right through this vindictive garbage.”

I watched a single drop of sweat trace a path down the side of his temple.

He looked so small in the vastness of the boardroom.

“Is that your defense, Graham?” I asked.

“It is the truth,” he said, glaring at me. “You are unstable, Arden.”

He looked back at Elliot, hoping for a nod, a sign of solidarity.

“We can fight this,” Graham told Elliot. “We deny the allegations, we sue her for defamation, and we get the compliance team out of our building.”

Elliot finally turned away from the window.

He slowly walked back to his chair at the head of the table.
