“I didn’t just look at the drive Arden brought me, Graham,” Elliot said.
The room grew very cold.
“What do you mean?” Graham asked.
“I called Donald Vance last night,” Elliot said.
Donald Vance was the senior partner at the independent auditing firm Whitaker-Crane used for annual reviews.
Graham’s hands slipped slightly on the mahogany table.
“You called Donald?” Graham asked.
“I had him bring a forensic team into our backup server room at midnight,” Elliot said.
He reached into his breast pocket and pulled out a folded sheet of paper.
“They didn’t need to look at Arden’s drive,” Elliot said, unfolding the paper.
He laid it flat on the table and slid it toward Graham.
“They pulled the original digital invoices from the system,” Elliot said.
“Those are standard consulting fees,” Graham said, his voice dropping to a whisper as he stared at the paper.
“To a company called Blue Star Consulting,” Elliot said. “Registered in Delaware.”
