The Silent Betrayal of the Starving Heir in the Rossi Estate
“Where is the intruder now?” Lorenzo asked, his hands clenching into fists on the desk.
“He is still inside the house,” she said, her voice barely a squeak. “He didn’t leave the grounds. He just moved to the lower levels.”
Lorenzo leaned down until his face was inches from hers.
“Tell me who he is, Eleanor. You have worked for my family for twenty years.”
“That is why they used me,” she wept. “They knew I had the master keycard. They knew I had access to the server room.”
She pointed a shaking finger at the screen.
“He plugged a drive into the main port,” she said. “He is routing the security feed to an outside server.”
“Is it Halloran?” Lorenzo asked, his eyes flashing with rage. “Is the doctor here?”
Mrs. Bellamy shook her head rapidly.
“No, not Dr. Halloran,” she said. “He is too careful to come here himself.”
“Then who is in my house?” Lorenzo roared, the sound echoing in the small office.
Mrs. Bellamy flinched, pulling her shoulders up to her ears.
“The young man,” she whispered. “The one who always comes with the medical deliveries.”
