Gavin leaned forward, his hands gripping the edge of the table.

“Therefore,” Judge Beckett continued, “sole legal and sole physical custody of Nolan and Parker Rourke is awarded immediately to the respondent, Cassandra Bellamy.”

A soft breath escaped my lips, and I felt the tension in my shoulders finally release.

“The petitioner’s visitation rights are suspended immediately,” the judge said. “Any future contact will be subject to a supervised schedule, pending the outcome of the criminal investigations currently underway.”

“Your Honor, this is outrageous,” Philip Dane said, standing up. “My client has been the primary financial provider—”

“Sit down, Mr. Dane,” Judge Beckett said without looking up from her papers.

Philip Dane sat down.

“Regarding the division of marital assets,” Judge Beckett said, “the court finds that the Potomac estate was purchased entirely with funds derived from the intellectual property of Cassandra Bellamy, which was fraudulently transferred under the guise of Rourke Regional Mobility.”

She looked at Gavin, her eyes hard behind her lenses.
