He stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the city lights.

“We need them to think their plan is still working,” Andrew said.

“How?” I asked.

Andrew turned around, his eyes dark and focused.

“The annual Leprince Corp Gala is in three days,” he said.

“The charity event?” Koko asked. “At the museum?”

“Yes,” Andrew said. “Every major investor and board member will be there. Including Victoria.”

He walked over to me, stopping just a few inches away.

“We need to give her a target,” Andrew said. “Something she can’t resist.”

“Me,” I said.

Andrew nodded slowly.

“We make her believe that you are willing to sell the final stabilizer formulas to her directly,” Andrew said.

“And that I’m doing it because I want to run away,” I added, looking down at my stomach.

Though my pregnancy was not yet showing, the thought of using my situation made my chest tighten.

“We let it slip that you are desperate,” Andrew said. “That I cast you aside.”
