“Only for a few hours,” Andrew said. “We will have the federal authorities waiting in the private gallery.”

“We need proof of the transaction,” I said. “The actual transfer of the funds into my account.”

“Yes,” Andrew said. “And the signature on the physical contract.”

He reached out and gently touched my arm.

“It will be dangerous, Elila,” he said. “Victoria is desperate now. She knows Julian is compromised.”

“I can do it,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

“I don’t like you being near her,” Andrew said, his hand sliding down to squeeze my fingers.

“I won’t be alone,” I said, looking at Koko.

“You bet your life you won’t,” Koko said. “I’ll be there with a hidden camera.”

“We need a believable story,” Andrew said. “Something that explains why Elila would suddenly turn on me.”

He looked at the floor, his brow furrowed.

“We will tell the press that we had a disagreement over the patent rights,” Andrew said.

“And that you threatened to fire her,” Koko suggested.

“Yes,” Andrew said. “We make it look like a bitter, personal feud.”
