“And you gave it to her?”
“I did,” I said. “I thought she was trying to get on her feet. But she was just preparing a place for him.”
Marisol stood up and grabbed her purse from the back of her chair.
“We need to call Detective Arispe right now,” she said.
“Will they go there?” I asked.
“He has an active warrant for domestic battery and financial fraud,” Marisol said. “If we have a live GPS track on him, they will go.”
She dialed the number on her desk phone and put it on speaker.
The line rang three times before a deep voice answered. “Arispe.”
“Detective, this is Marisol Vance,” she said. “I have the victim, Elena, with me. We have a live location on Derek.”
There was a brief pause on the other end, followed by the sound of rustling paper.
“Where is he?” Arispe asked.
“He is at his sister’s apartment in North Miami,” Marisol said. “We have a GPS ping from a stolen appliance he is trying to register on his phone.”
“Is the signal active right now?” the detective asked.
