“And look at the authorization signature.”

He held the paper closer to me.

At the bottom of the page, on the line marked for the authorized representative, was a signature.

It was my name.

Elena Ross.

The letters were written in my precise, slightly slanted handwriting.

“I didn’t sign this,” I said, my heart dropping.

“I have never even seen this account number.”

“I know,” Luke said.

“But it looks exactly like your signature.”

“It’s a perfect forgery.”

He pulled out another document.

This one was a corporate resolution, authorizing the transfer of intellectual property rights.

Again, my signature was at the bottom.

Beside it was a copy of my old employee identification card.

“Someone went to great lengths to build this trail,” Marco said.

“If the board sees these, the police won’t have a choice.”

“They will arrest you for corporate espionage, Elena.”

Luke turned the pages faster now.

His breathing became shallow.

“These transfers started six months ago,” Luke muttered.

“Right after we signed the divorce papers.”

He pointed to a column of figures.

“The amounts are massive.”
