Pastor Whitcomb emerged from the vestry, followed by two men in plain clothes.
Detective Miller stepped forward, showing his badge. “Mr. Caldwell. Mrs. Caldwell.”
Graham stopped walking, his face turning a pale shade of gray.
“What is this?” Graham demanded, looking at me. “You said this was about a private settlement.”
“I lied,” I said.
I laid the thick folder onto the dark wood of the communion table.
“This is the complete financial audit of the Caldwell estate and my grandmother’s trust,” I said.
Marjorie took a step back, her hand going to her throat.
“We have the records of every transaction you made over the last five years, Graham,” Julian said.
“You have nothing,” Graham snapped, though his voice lacked conviction.
