Inside the lining was a small, plastic-wrapped piece of paper.
I pulled it out and held it up for the room to see.
“This is my mother’s real last will,” I said.
“It was witnessed by Matteo and her attorney at the time.”
“It leaves Aster Hall and the entirety of the Bennett Trust to me, solely.”
“It explicitly excludes any spouse or future business entity created by Harrison Ashford.”
Beatrice took a step back, her hand going to her throat.
“That is a lie,” Beatrice said, though her voice lacked its usual force.
“Our lawyers reviewed the estate documents years ago.”
“Your lawyers reviewed the documents Harrison forged,” Grace said, stepping forward.
She opened her briefcase and pulled out a stack of paper.
“We have the forensic analysis of the signatures.”
“We also have the confession of Dr. Marren regarding the sedation of Vivian.”
Harrison looked toward the back of the room.
The double doors of the ballroom opened.
Two men in dark suits entered, followed by uniformed officers.
The guests turned to watch them approach.
Harrison’s face went entirely white.
