The Inheritance of Aster Hall and the Fall of the Ashford Empire
I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone.
I dialed Grace’s direct number.
It rang twice before she answered, her voice crisp and alert.
“Vivian,” Grace said. “Where are you?”
“I’m in the dressing room with Matteo,” I said.
“And Sloane Whitaker.”
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line.
“Is she cooperating?” Grace asked.
“She wants a deal,” I said.
“She is offering Harrison’s financial passwords and the master key to his secure accounts.”
“In exchange, she wants full immunity from the lawsuit regarding the dress.”
I heard the rustle of papers on Grace’s end.
“Without those passwords, can we stop the transfer?” I asked.
“It will be incredibly difficult,” Grace admitted.
“We would have to get an emergency injunction from a judge tonight, which is nearly impossible on a Sunday evening.”
“Even then, the bank’s automated system might not process the freeze before midnight.”
“If Sloane has the key, we can log in and cancel the pending authorization directly.”
“Can you draft the agreement?” I asked.
“I can write a preliminary release of liability,” Grace said.
