The Hidden Legacy of the Housekeeper Who Saved My Life
Johnny leaned forward, resting his hands on the back of my seat.
“Nathan, what if she tries to stop the meeting?” Johnny asked.
“She has lawyers, lots of them.”
“Can’t she just file an injunction?”
“She can try,” Nathan said.
“But Arthur is already working on the paperwork.”
“He is the oldest member of our legal team, and he was my grandfather’s personal attorney.”
“He knows the bylaws better than anyone.”
He tapped the button on the steering wheel to activate the hands-free system.
“Call Arthur,” Nathan said.
The dashboard screen lit up with the contact name.
The system began to ring, the sound clear and loud in the car.
It rang four times before a deep, tired voice answered.
“Nathan,” Arthur said.
“I was hoping you would call.”
“Did you get it?”
“We have it, Arthur,” Nathan said.
“The original will is in our hands.”
“And we have video proof of Eleanor using corporate security to try to take it from us.”
There was a brief silence on the line.
“Are you safe?” Arthur asked.
“We are on our way to the city now,” Nathan said.
