“We need to put this in your office safe tonight.”

“Then I want you to file the notice for the emergency board meeting.”

“We are going to present the evidence tomorrow at nine.”

Arthur sighed, the sound heavy over the speakers.

“Nathan, there is something you need to know,” Arthur said.

“I just received a notification from the corporate secretary’s office.”

“Eleanor has already anticipated your move.”

“What do you mean?” Nathan asked, his eyes narrowing as he stared at the road.

“She didn’t wait for tomorrow,” Arthur said.

“She has called an emergency session of the board herself.”

“She cited a crisis in executive leadership.”

“When is the meeting?” Nathan asked, his grip tightening on the steering wheel.

“It’s tonight, Nathan,” Arthur said.

“In exactly forty-five minutes.”

“At the corporate headquarters in Stamford.”

“She is going to ask for a vote to permanently strip you of your CEO title and your board seat.”

“If you are not there to present that will, she will have the votes.”

“She has already lined up the executive committee.”

Nathan’s face went completely pale.
