The Hidden Legacy and the Corporate Empire Built on a Foundation of Lies
“Harrison has been using the charity as a clearinghouse,” Benjamin explained. “He’s been moving tens of millions of dollars of corporate funds through the foundation to avoid taxes.”
“That’s embezzlement,” Jonathan said, his voice dropping an octave.
“It’s worse than that,” Benjamin said. “The money isn’t just sitting there. It’s being routed to offshore political action committees in Europe and Washington.”
“He’s buying influence,” I said, the realization hitting me like a physical blow.
“Exactly,” Benjamin said. “And he’s doing it using Rebecca’s family name as a shield.”
“Does Rebecca know?” Jonathan asked.
“I don’t have proof of her direct involvement yet,” Benjamin said. “But her signature is on three of the transfer authorization forms from last month.”
Jonathan looked at me, a sudden spark of energy returning to his eyes.
“If we can prove this,” Jonathan said, “Harrison’s board meeting tomorrow won’t matter.”
“We need the physical ledger,” Benjamin said. “The digital copies are good, but we need the original bank authorization tokens to prove the signatures weren’t forged.”
“Where are they?” I asked.
