Vance reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small, silver hard drive.
He placed it on the table with a soft click.
“Everything is on here,” Vance said. “Every email, every encrypted text message, and every financial authorization.”
Rachel did not touch the drive immediately.
She looked at Vance through her reading glasses, her pen poised over her legal pad.
“And what exactly does this drive contain, Mr. Harrison?” Rachel asked.
“Proof,” Vance said. “Proof that the entire real estate acquisition scheme was designed by Margaret and Graham.”
Margaret’s hand flew to her collar. “Vance, you signed those development contracts yourself.”
“Under false pretenses,” Vance said. “You told me Claire was mentally unstable. You told me she was consenting to the liquidation through Graham as her power of attorney.”
I felt a cold sensation in my chest.
“My power of attorney?” I asked.
Vance looked at me, his expression flat and transactional.
“They had a document, Claire,” Vance said. “It had your signature on it. They told me you were suffering from severe depression and couldn’t handle the day-to-day operations of the foundation.”
