“It is fully active as of five minutes ago,” Rachel said, handing a copy of the document to a server standing nearby, who looked confused.
“This amendment contains a bad-faith clause,” Rachel continued. “Upon evidence of unauthorized international transfers, all associated trust assets are immediately frozen.”
Sloane’s face went rigid.
“What does that mean?” Sloane demanded, looking at Graham.
“It means,” Rachel said, looking directly at Graham, “that your personal accounts, your corporate accounts, and the financial guarantees for your development projects are revoked.”
A murmur rippled through the room.
Vance Harrison, who had been standing near the bar, set his glass down with a heavy thud.
“Graham,” Vance called out, his voice low and dangerous. “What is she talking about?”
“It is a misunderstanding,” Graham said, his voice cracking slightly.
He reached into his pocket for his phone, his fingers trembling as he tried to unlock the screen.
“Don’t bother,” Daniel said, stepping out from behind the pillar beside me. “The bank has already processed the freeze order.”
