The Fall of Prescott Global and the Reclamation of a Mother Legacy
Arthur nodded, tapping the folder in his hand.
“The clerk stamped it ten minutes ago,” he said. “The emergency protective order is active.”
“Since Callum is in custody and the child is legally registered under your name alone, the Prescott lawyers cannot touch him.”
I let out a long breath, my shoulders dropping.
For the first time in months, I felt like I could breathe without a weight on my chest.
“Where is Vivian?” I asked.
Arthur’s expression turned serious, the warmth leaving his eyes.
He pulled a chair up to the bedside and sat down, leaning in close.
“That is why I came back in so quickly,” he said.
“My contact at the federal building just called me from the lobby.”
“Vivian’s car was spotted parked in the secure basement of the Dirksen Courthouse.”
I frowned, looking down at Leo’s small, sleeping face.
“Why would she be there?” I asked. “The custody hearing was postponed.”
“She isn’t there for the custody hearing,” Arthur said, his voice dropping to a whisper.
“She was seen entering the elevator that leads directly to the US Attorney’s office.”
