We drove fast, the sirens silent but the blue and red lights flashing against the storefronts.

I watched the city fade behind us as we headed toward the hills.

My phone lit up again in my lap.

It was an alert from a local news outlet.

*BREAKING: Federal authorities reportedly preparing major enforcement action in Bay Area.*

The leak had already started.

I looked at the agent sitting next to me.

“How long until we reach the estate?” I asked.

“Twenty minutes,” he said, checking his watch.

He tapped his radio headset.

“Team Two, what is your status at the Oakland office?” he asked into the mic.

The radio crackled with static, then a voice came through, loud and urgent.

“We have a situation at the gate,” the voice said.

The agent beside me leaned closer to the console.

“Say again, Team Two,” he said, his voice flat. “What kind of situation?”

“Shredding trucks,” the radio crackled.

“We also have counsel on site representing Denise Richards,” the voice continued.

“She is refusing entry to company security, but she is letting our federal team through the side doors.”
