Helen entered the room a few minutes later, her laptop bag slung over her shoulder.
She pulled up a rolling stool and sat down in front of me.
“The custody battle is just the first hill, Emma,” Helen said, opening her laptop.
“We need to prepare for the divorce filing.”
“I want it done,” I said. “Whatever it takes.”
“We are going to dismantle Ryan’s financial standing,” Helen said.
“My team has already begun a forensic audit of his accounts.”
“What are they finding?” Thomas asked, leaning against the wall.
“Ryan has been transferring large sums of money out of your joint accounts,” Helen said, looking at me.
“He was trying to hide assets before you even went into labor.”
“He thought he was being clever,” I said.
“He wasn’t,” Helen said.
“He used the company servers to authorize the transfers.”
“That means his business partners are going to find out,” Laura said.
“They already have,” Helen replied.
“The audit is going to trigger a corporate investigation.”
“He faces financial ruin,” Thomas said, a grim satisfaction in his voice.
