“Of course I did,” Ryan said. “I’m not a monster. I went into the bedroom to say goodbye.”
“And what was she doing?”
“She was sleeping,” Ryan said. “She was tired from the baby. I told her I was leaving, and she mumbled something.”
“Did she look ill to you?” Helen asked.
“No. She looked like a tired new mother.”
Helen reached into her briefcase and pulled out a manila folder.
She slid a document across the table.
“This is the log from your home security system,” Helen said. “It shows the master bedroom door was opened at 7:25 PM.”
“Okay,” Ryan said.
“And your vehicle cleared the front security gate of the estate at 7:42 PM,” Helen said.
“Yes. That sounds right.”
“So you were in the house for seventeen minutes after entering the bedroom.”
“I was packing my bags,” Ryan said.
Helen took another paper from the folder.
“This is a copy of your personal cell phone search history from that evening,” Helen said.
