“This is a very detailed report, Silvio,” Damiano said.

“It only took you ten minutes to compile it,” Damiano noted.

“Almost as if you knew it was coming.”

Silvio’s eyes narrowed slightly, but he did not back down.

“We have people monitoring the feeds,” Silvio said.

“We protect this family, even when you are distracted.”

The other captains moved slightly, closing ranks behind Silvio.

I felt the invisible line being drawn in the room.

On one side was Damiano, and on the other was his own council.

“She is wearing the ring, Silvio,” Damiano said, pointing to my hand.

“She is my fiancée,” Damiano added, his voice cold and level.

“An attack on her is an attack on me.”

Silvio took a step closer to the desk, leaning his weight onto his hands.

“We did not agree to this, Damiano,” Silvio said.

“The alliance does not support protecting a thief who brings the FBI to our door.”

“The captains want her gone,” Silvio said, gesturing to the men behind him.

“And if you do not remove her, we will do it for you.”
