I reached out and pulled the black hard drive toward me, sliding it into the open pocket of my diaper bag next to the silver flash drive.

“Does this have the metadata from the forged trust amendment?” Grace asked, still writing.

“Yes,” Celeste said. “He used his mother’s digital signature pad on her desk while she was in London. The IP address and the timestamp are embedded in the PDF files on that drive.”

Grace stopped writing.

A slow, sharp smile spread across her face.

“What is it?” I asked.

She stood up and packed the signed affidavit and her notepad into her briefcase.

“With this metadata and the active offshore routing numbers, we have proof of ongoing asset dissipation,” Grace said.

“What does that mean?” Celeste asked, looking confused.

“It means I am not waiting for a trial,” Grace said. “I am filing an emergency ex parte motion for an asset freeze in thirty minutes.”

She looked down at me, her eyes bright with a fierce energy.
