She kept her hand flat over it, hiding it from the rest of the room.

“Adrian has been diverting money for three years,” Celeste whispered. “Every time he signed a new corporate contract, a percentage went to a shell company.”

“Where is the money now?” I asked.

“Zurich,” Celeste said. “And a private bank in the Cayman Islands. It is over fifteen million dollars.”

“And you have the access codes?” Grace asked.

“I have the routing numbers, the account names, and the digital keys,” Celeste said.

She stared at me, her eyes filled with a desperate, cold anger.

“He was going to take me with him,” Celeste said, her voice trembling slightly. “He promised me we would buy the villa in Saint Kitts. He said we would start over once he got rid of you.”

“And what changed?” I asked.

“I saw his computer this morning,” Celeste said. “He booked a single ticket to Zurich. Just one. He transferred five million dollars to a private account in his name only yesterday.”

She paused, swallowing hard, her face pale.
