“These compounds do not occur naturally in these quantities.”

“They were administered intravenously while Claire was bedridden with a minor illness.”

“And we have the digital logs from the home security system from the night of Claire’s death,” I added, bringing up another document.

“The security system was deactivated manually from Vanessa Caldwell’s personal laptop at 2:14 AM.”

“Twenty minutes later, Claire’s heart monitor stopped transmitting data.”

Vanessa stood up, her chair scraping loudly against the wooden floor.

“This is a setup,” Vanessa shouted, her face flushed with anger.

“Benjamin knew about all of this,” she screamed, pointing a finger at her husband.

“He wanted her gone just as much as I did,” she added.

Benjamin did not move, but a visible shudder ran through his shoulders.

“Sit down, Mrs. Caldwell,” Judge Vance ordered, her voice cutting through the noise.

“Your Honor, we have the signed affidavit from Dr. Harrison, the physician who signed the original death certificate,” I said.

“He has admitted under oath to accepting a two-million-dollar payment from Vanessa’s offshore accounts to falsify the cause of death.”
