“No,” Benjamin said, standing up straight. “This is my house. I am not hiding in the dark.”
“Sir, with all due respect, the server breach was highly sophisticated,” Marcus said. “This wasn’t just Vanessa clicking buttons on a laptop.”
Marcus tapped his tablet, showing a map of the network traffic.
“The deletion command originated from inside, but the routing protocol was professional,” Marcus said.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Someone spent weeks setting up these backdoors in the Caldwell Systems server,” Marcus said.
He scrolled through a list of encrypted outgoing data packets.
“I’m seeing massive transfers of corporate funds,” Marcus murmured.
“From which accounts?” Benjamin asked, stepping closer.
“The primary development reserve,” Marcus said. “Over forty million dollars moved in the last seventy-two hours.”
“That requires dual authorization,” Benjamin said, his face turning pale. “Mine and the CFO’s.”
