“That was my father’s company,” I said.

“Before he lost it to the cards.”

Declan let out a harsh, dry laugh.

“Your old man?” Declan said. “Richard is a parasite, but he is too lazy to pull off a heist like this.”

“He didn’t pull it off,” I said. “He is just the driver.”

“But he knows the routes.”

“He knows every blind spot in the city’s security grid.”

I looked at Roman, whose eyes were still fixed on me.

“He sold me to you to buy himself time,” I said.

“He used my debt as a distraction.”

“While we were fighting over my freedom, he was clearing out your accounts.”

Roman closed the ledger with a soft thud.

“If he is moving the money, he is working for someone else,” Roman said.

“A man like Richard Callahan does not have the connections to hide millions of dollars.”

“There is a third party,” Victor agreed.

“Someone who wants to watch us tear each other apart.”

“If we go to war over the missing funds, the city is theirs for the taking,” I said.
