Reclaiming My Home After My Family Declared Me Dead Overseas
“At the development site,” Logan said quickly, sensing a breakthrough. “In the main office trailer at the end of the paved road. The gate is locked, but I can let you in.”
“I need to see the signed paperwork before I hand over the drive,” Jake said.
“Bring the drive with you,” Logan said. “We can do the swap there. Just you and me. No Walter. No lawyers.”
“What about the custody petition?” Jake asked.
“I’ll have the withdrawal forms signed by Patricia,” Logan promised. “I can get her to do it. She’ll do whatever Walter says, and Walter will do what I say if I get that drive back.”
Jake rubbed his forehead with his free hand, acting as if he were weighing the options under extreme pressure.
“It’s a blizzard out there, Logan,” Jake said.
“The snow is supposed to clear by midnight,” Logan said. “Meet me at the site at one in the morning. Nobody will be around.”
“Alright,” Jake said quietly. “One o’clock. Don’t bring Walter.”
“I won’t,” Logan said. “Just bring the drive, Jake. Please.”
The line went dead.
