How My Husband Planned My Ruin and Built His Own Downfall
“I’ll send those over right away, Mrs. Harlan.”
“Thank you, Helen. You’ve been very helpful.”
I hung up the phone.
A minute later, my computer chimed.
The email from the clinic appeared on my screen.
I opened the PDF attachment.
It was the laboratory order form for the genetic screening, scheduled for 8:00 AM the next day.
The form listed the samples required: a maternal blood draw and a paternal cheek swab.
But Jared hadn’t submitted his swab yet.
The form indicated that the paternal sample was to be collected tomorrow morning when he accompanied her.
If Courtney was planning to pass the baby off as Jared’s, she must have a plan to swap the sample.
Or perhaps she didn’t know that the test would automatically check for paternity.
No, she was smarter than that.
She would try to intercept the results.
I looked at the name of the laboratory listed on the form.
*Genesis Diagnostics, Private Lab Wing, Kensington Hospital.*
I knew the layout of the hospital well.
The lab wing was on the basement level, adjacent to the private clinic offices.
