How My Husband Locked Me Out and Ended Up Losing Everything
On the recording, Molly asked, “What leases?”
“Diane and Karen,” Brent said, his voice cracking. “They couldn’t get approved for those luxury apartments in Cherry Creek without a guarantor.”
“You used my sister’s house to guarantee your mother’s rent?” Molly asked, her tone rising in disbelief.
“It was just a formality,” Brent said quickly. “The landlord required a high net-worth guarantee. I used the equity line from the Redwood Crest property. It went through last week.”
“Are you insane?” Molly asked.
“They already moved their furniture in, Molly,” Brent said, sounding closer to the camera now. “The leases are locked in under the estate’s name. If the bank voids the equity line because of a fraud investigation, those leases are voided automatically.”
“That sounds like your problem,” Molly said.
“They will be evicted by the end of the month!” Brent screamed. “They don’t have the cash to cover the deposits on their own. They will have nowhere to go.”
“Then they can find somewhere they can actually afford,” Molly said.
“Molly, please,” Brent said, his voice breaking. “Just talk to her. If she doesn’t stop this, my mother and sister are going to lose everything. They will blame me.”
