I tapped the screenshot Molly had sent right before that.

It showed twelve missed calls from an unlisted number within the span of twenty minutes.

I pressed the call button next to Molly’s name.

She answered on the first ring, her voice low and tight.

“Tessa, thank God,” Molly said. “Is he gone?”

“The deputy just watched him drive away,” I said, leaning my back against the heavy oak door. “Are you okay? Where is Ivy?”

“She’s asleep in the portable crib in my living room,” Molly whispered. “She had her bottle an hour ago.”

I closed my eyes, letting out a breath I felt like I had been holding for months.

“What are those missed calls on your screen, Molly?” I asked.

“That was Brent,” she said. “He blocked his number, but I knew it was him.”

“Did he call you from the driveway here?”

“No,” Molly said. “He actually drove past my house first, before he went to the mansion to confront you.”

My grip tightened on the phone.

“He came to your house?” I asked.
