“Based on the evidence of extreme financial instability and potential criminal fraud,” the judge said.

“I find that it is in the best interest of the children to be placed in the sole custody of their mother.”

“Jocelyn Ralston is granted temporary sole physical and legal custody of Hazel and Ruby, effective immediately.”

“Mr. Graham Ralston will have supervised visitation only, at the discretion of the petitioner.”

Graham put his head in his hands.

“Additionally,” Judge Avery continued, her voice stern. “In light of the credible evidence of financial fraud.”

“I am ordering an immediate freeze on all joint Ralston bank accounts, real estate holdings, and trusts.”

“This freeze will remain in place until a full forensic audit can be conducted.”

“Court is adjourned.”

The judge struck her gavel against the wooden block.

The sound echoed through the high-ceilinged room.

Gloria stood up so quickly her chair scraped loudly against the linoleum floor.

“You quiet little viper,” Gloria hissed across the aisle, her voice trembling with rage.

“You think you can destroy us?” she whispered. “You are nothing without our name.”
