“He signed everything his mother told him to,” I said.
“We know,” Vance said, opening a file folder. “But his signature is on the wire transfers that emptied your personal accounts.”
The younger agent handed my father a printed document.
“Your husband is offering up Patricia,” the younger agent said. “He is willing to testify that she orchestrated the entire operation.”
“And Courtney?” I asked, my throat tightening at the memory of my sister-in-law’s hands pushing me down.
“He claims Courtney was the one who physically moved the ledgers and handled the cash drops,” Vance said.
My father stared at the document in his hands.
“He is trying to save his own skin,” my father said flatly.
“Of course he is,” Vance agreed. “But his cooperation gives us the key to Patricia’s encrypted files.”
“We need more than financial records to keep them away from Hannah and the baby,” my father said.
“The physical abuse charges are local,” Vance explained. “But we can tie those actions to the conspiracy if they were used to silence a witness.”
I leaned back against the stiff hospital pillows.
