My father walked up to the witness box, took his oath, and sat down.

He placed his wrinkled hands on the wooden railing in front of him.

“Mr. Collins,” Sarah said, walking toward the witness stand.

“Can you identify the documents currently being presented by the petitioner?”

“I can,” my father said.

His voice was stronger than I had heard it in years, filling the quiet room.

“They are fakes,” he said.

“My wife, Linda, has been forging Mark’s name for nearly a decade.”

A murmur ran through the few people sitting in the back gallery.

“Objection!” Linda’s attorney shouted.

“This is unsubstantiated slander from an estranged spouse.”

“It is not unsubstantiated,” my father said calmly.

He reached into his brown tweed coat pocket and pulled out a small black USB drive.

“I have the digital ledgers here,” he said, placing the drive on the railing.

“And I have the physical books in my son’s possession.”

“For ten years, I watched my wife systematically drain Mark’s earnings.”

“She used his pilot’s salary to fund Hannah’s lifestyle and Luke’s failed businesses.”
