Why My Family Tried to Sign Away My Life Without My Consent
I pulled out my phone and dialed Detective Miller at the Miami Police Department.
I had met him two years ago during an airport security seminar.
He answered on the third ring.
“Miller,” he said.
“This is Mark Collins,” I said. “I am at my apartment. I have individuals threatening my family.”
“Are they at the door?” Miller asked.
“They left a package,” I said. “They are targeting my sister’s husband for debt.”
“I will dispatch a unit to your building,” Miller said. “Do you want to file a formal complaint?”
“Yes,” I said. “But I need to move the kids first.”
“Keep your doors locked until my officers arrive,” Miller said.
I hung up the phone and looked at Hannah.
“Get the kids packed,” I said. “One bag each. No toys, just clothes.”
“Mark, I’m so sorry,” she sobbed.
“Do not apologize to me right now,” I said. “Move.”
She ran down the hallway toward the guest bedrooms.
I made another call.
I dialed Clara Henderson.
Clara was a retired airline administrator who ran the Safe Haven Network in Miami.
