“I told you it was a mistake to touch Eleanor’s personal funds,” Patricia said, her voice rising so everyone in the room could hear.

“You told me you had authorization,” she continued, taking a step away from him. “You lied to me, just like you lied to Claire.”

“Mother, what are you saying?” Mark stammered, taking a step toward her. “We did this together. You set up the accounts.”

“I did no such thing,” Patricia said, her voice hard as stone.

She turned to Investigator Miller.

“Officer, my son has been acting alone,” she said. “He used my name on the co-signature without my knowledge.”

“That’s a lie!” Mark shouted, his face turning a deep, angry red.

“I have copies of the emails on my phone,” Patricia said, ignoring him completely. “I have records of every transaction he made.”

She reached into her leather handbag and pulled out a small, silver flash drive.

She held it out to Investigator Miller.

“I want to cooperate fully,” Patricia said. “I have the routing numbers and the passwords to his offshore accounts.”

“Mother, stop!” Mark yelled, lunging toward her.
