“We aren’t delivering anything to them,” Aries said.
He took Killian’s weapon from his holster and slipped it into his own waistband.
He took Killian’s phone, glanced at the screen, and placed it on the desk.
“Stay here, Sienna,” Aries said, turning to me. “Watch him.”
“Where are you going?” I asked, my fingers clutching the paper.
“The men outside,” Aries said. “They need to be dealt with quietly.”
He slipped out through a side door that led into the main warehouse, leaving me alone with Killian.
The rain continued to beat against the metal roof of the office.
Killian looked at me, his eyes dark and calculating.
“He’s going to get himself killed, Sienna,” Killian said.
“You’re the one who betrayed him,” I said.
“I did what I had to do to keep the syndicate from collapsing,” he said.
“You poisoned him,” I said, remembering the metallic smell on the silk threads. “The poison in the lining of his suit. That was you.”
Killian didn’t deny it.
“It was meant to slow him down, not kill him,” he whispered. “To make him look weak to the council.”
