“No,” Aries said, his voice barely a whisper. “The noise.”
“It was a flashbang and breaching charges,” Killian said, checking his pistol’s magazine. “They knew exactly where the security blind spots were.”
“Inside job,” Aries said, opening his eyes.
The coldness in his gaze made me shiver more than the damp air.
“We go to the harbor,” Aries said to Killian. “The boat house is secure.”
“And the tailor?” Killian asked, glancing at me.
“She comes with us,” Aries said.
He turned his sharp gaze to me, looking down at my hands.
“You still have the shirt,” he noted.
“I wasn’t going to drop it,” I said, my voice trembling. “It is the only proof we have.”
“And the only way to find out who bought the poison,” Aries said.
The elevator jolted slightly as it reached the basement level.
The doors opened to a dimly lit underground parking garage.
