The Stolen Heir and the Betrayal That Ruined a Dynasty
“We got her,” the detective said, placing the bag on the table.
“Olivia Grant was arrested in the parking lot of the Westbridge facility.”
“She had this in her trunk, along with four cryo-vials labeled with your name, Mrs. Bennett.”
I looked at the book through the plastic.
It was the original, hand-written embryology log from six years ago.
Before the digital systems were put in place, the clinic kept a physical duplicate to comply with state health laws.
Samuel put on a pair of latex gloves and carefully opened the bag, turning the pages with a pencil tip.
He stopped on a page dated June 12th.
There, written in blue ink, was my name, crossed out with a single red line.
Directly below it, in the same handwriting, was Olivia Grant’s name.
The notation next to it read: *Embryo transfer successful. Batch 404-B. Patient billed privately via Lawson Enterprises.*
“This is the smoking gun,” Samuel said, his voice quiet.
“The electronic logs could be disputed as a glitch or a hack, but this handwriting is verified as Dr. Morris’s.”
