“Not for long, Mrs. Lawson,” Samuel replied calmly.
He reached into his leather briefcase and pulled out a stack of legal documents.
“I have already drafted the emergency petition for temporary custody,” Samuel said.
“With these medical records from Mr. Morris, a judge will sign it before noon.”
Ethan finally lifted his head, his face red and tear-stained.
“Mother, please,” Ethan begged, his voice cracking.
“We have to stop this.”
“They have the records.”
“They know everything.”
Margaret glared down at her son, her lip curling in disgust.
“Get up, Ethan,” she commanded.
“Stop sniveling like a child.”
“We have resources, and we have influence.”
“These people cannot touch us.”
Samuel smiled slightly, though there was no warmth in it.
“Actually, Mr. Lawson, your mother’s resources might be temporary,” Samuel said.
Ethan blinked, wiping his nose with the back of his hand.
“What do you mean?” Ethan asked.
“Along with the custody petition, I am filing for an immediate freeze on all Lawson family assets,” Samuel explained.
“We have reason to believe those accounts were used to fund the illegal transfers at this clinic.”
