The Six Hour Countdown to Expose the City’s Darkest Shadow
“Dante, you need to get out of there,” Luca said. “The fuel truck is moving toward the dock. They’re going to burn the evidence if they think the raid is compromised.”
“I’m not leaving without my sister,” I said.
“We don’t have time,” Luca said. “The harbor is locking down.”
“I’ll call you back,” I said.
I hung up.
I turned to Rachel, who was standing at the top of the stairs, her face pale.
“We can’t go through the gate,” I said. “We have to use the water side, but we need to wait for the right moment.”
“What about Isabella?” Rachel asked.
I looked at her, surprised.
“You know where she is?” I asked.
“She’s on the upper deck,” Rachel said. “In the owner’s suite. Kane keeps her there. She… she was trying to help us, Dante. She’s the one who got the keycard to the hold for me, but they caught her.”
My chest tightened.
“Is she alive?” I asked.
“Yes,” Rachel said. “But Kane has her. He’s using her to keep you from exposing him.”
