The Sister Who Stole My Life and the Husband Who Paid the Price
The line clicked, and a new voice joined the call.
“This is Harris,” the detective said. “We’ve already flagged Miller’s name with airport security, but he was already in the air by the time the warrant was drafted. He’s scheduled to land in Palm Springs in forty-five minutes.”
My heart hammered against my ribs.
“He has a condo there,” I said. “On El Camino Drive. It’s registered under his brother’s name, but Lucas pays the mortgage.”
“We’re contacting the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department now,” Harris said. “They’ll have a unit stationed near the property.”
“But we can’t arrest him until he accesses the account,” Sarah Lin reminded us. “We need the overt act.”
“We’ll be watching the server logs,” Reed said from the bank. “The moment his IP address pings our secure portal from that Palm Springs location, we’ll trigger the alert.”
Arthur looked at me. “Are you ready for this, Anne?”
“I want him stopped,” I said. “I want my life back.”
I looked at Chloe.
She was staring at the conference table, her fingers tracing a groove in the wood.
“Chloe?” I said.
