“Get his hands,” I said, walking over to them.

Daniel grabbed Caleb’s left arm and pulled it behind his back.

“He’s got something in his pocket,” Daniel said.

He reached into Caleb’s coat and pulled out a small, rectangular object.

It was a heavy, silver card with a digital screen on the front.

“The biometric keycard,” Daniel said, holding it up.

“Give it to me,” I said.

I took the card. It was warm from Caleb’s body heat.

The screen on the card was flashing red, displaying a countdown timer.

*04:11.*

“What is this, Caleb?” I asked, kneeling beside him.

Caleb spit blood onto the floor and glared at me.

“It’s the detonator,” he said, his voice trembling.

“Where is the charge?” I demanded.

“Under the main support beam,” he whispered. “In the old wine vault.”

I looked at Daniel.

“Take Nora and get to the passage,” I said.

“Adrian, I’m not leaving you down here,” Daniel said.

“You have to,” I said. “If that charge goes off, the whole east wing collapses.”

“I can help,” Daniel said.

“No,” I said. “Keep Nora safe. Find Lila.”
