Inside, Caleb sat tied to a heavy wooden chair.
His expensive suit was torn and covered in gray stone dust.
He raised his head, a slow grin spreading across his face.
“Adrian,” Caleb said, his voice raspy. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“Elena,” I said, stepping closer to the iron bars. “Where is she?”
Caleb laughed, a dry, hacking sound that echoed in the small room.
“She always was the smart one,” he said.
“The explosive,” I said, my voice dangerously quiet. “How do we stop it?”
Caleb leaned forward as much as the thick ropes allowed.
“You don’t,” he whispered.
“The timer has less than ten minutes,” Daniel said, looking at his tactical tablet.
“Then you should start running,” Caleb said.
I stepped into the cell and grabbed his collar.
“Where is the bypass?” I demanded.
He looked at my hand, then up into my eyes.
“You need my biometric keycard,” Caleb said.
“Where is it?” I asked, tightening my grip.
“It isn’t on me,” he sneered.
“Search him anyway,” I told Daniel.
Daniel stepped forward and began tearing through Caleb’s pockets.
