“There is one more thing,” Arthur added. “Apex Capital is indeed meeting with him today.”

“They are trying to restructure his debt. They have no idea that Vanguard Realty owns the building he operates out of.”

“Or that Vanguard is about to lock his doors,” I said.

“Exactly. The Apex board has requested a representative from Vanguard to attend their meeting at eleven to discuss the property status.”

“I will attend,” I said.

“Are you sure you want to reveal yourself to them today?” Arthur asked. “It will change everything.”

“It is time,” I said. “Graham needs to understand who has been keeping his business afloat.”

“I will send the details to your phone,” Arthur said. “The meeting is at the downtown tower.”

“I’ll see you there, Arthur.”

I dressed carefully.

I chose a charcoal gray tailored suit.

The fabric was Italian wool, simple but perfectly cut.

I pulled my hair back into a low, neat bun.

I wore no jewelry except for a thin gold watch my father had given me years ago.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror.
