“I did,” I said. “And I sent them to the Department of Justice.”
The lead federal agent, a woman with a sharp gaze and a dark blue windbreaker, walked over to us.
“Mr. Romano, Ms. Parker,” she said, nodding to each of us. “I am Special Agent Carter.”
“Thank you for the cooperation,” she added, looking at me. “The data you provided was incredibly precise.”
“Is the evidence sufficient?” Adrian asked.
“More than enough,” Agent Carter said. “The conspiracy charges alone will keep them in federal custody for a long time.”
“And the threat to Ms. Parker?” Adrian asked.
“We are filing protective orders immediately, though they won’t be necessary where Mr. Vance is going,” she replied.
Two more agents led Marcus toward the revolving doors.
He looked back once, his eyes hollow, before he was pushed into the back of a black SUV.
Harrison followed him, his head bowed, trying to shield his face from the cameras.
The doors spun, and the lobby grew quiet again as the agents cleared out.
